CII-ITC Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development, with DSM's support, initiated the Climate Action Programme CAP 2.0° for Indian industry in 2018, with an objective to recognise and drive meaningful corporate action on climate change, and promote the integration of such action into organisational business models and processes. The programme is developed according to the maturity level of companies to tackle climate related risks and opportunities with regard to climate action.
CAP 2.0° aims to help the companies in preparing scenario analysis, aids in implementing Task Force on Climate- Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) recommendations and calculate internal carbon pricing with a better investor and stakeholder relations due to enhanced clarity on long term climate change strategy.
At CAP 2.0° platform, industries are provided with the opportunity to demonstrate their climate change mitigation & adaptation efforts and receive recognition.
This is the Third edition and in the last 2 years more than 50 companies from different sectors including MSMEs have applied and 11 companies have been recognised, which also includes MSMEs.
A national programme to recognise climate action by industries using a three dimensional assessment methodology that aims to raise the bar on climate action. A team of qualified CII certified assessors will assess applications over a period of five months and provide unbiased analysis. Some of its distinguishing characteristics include:
Overseen by an independent non-industry based Jury
700 man-hours spent by certified CAP Assessors per application.
Feedback report provided at the end of the complete cycle based on the framework
Based on a CII Climate-Maturity model and using the principles of business excellence framework

The programme also allows companies to create a road map and build capacity of employees through easy to understand methods, dedicated handholding on climate action and build maturity year-on-year.

CII-CERTIFIED CAP 2.0° ASSESSOR PROGRAMME
With the intent of building capacity in the subject area of climate change and in order to create a resource of professionals for CAP 2.0° assessments, CII undertakes certified training for select professionals on the assessment methodology; basis which the CAP 2.0° questionnaire has been designed
